Portraits with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 lens
Thanks to my work colleagues, Nicholas and JP, for sitting for these.
I have this wonderful old 50mm lens and have used it on my X-cameras before with other adapters. I recently acquired the Kipon Tilt and Shift adapter for Nikon F lenses. It’s been a blast to play with.
The Kipon adapter seems to work far better than other adapters I have tried with this lens, giving me great focusing performance. The added benefit of this adapter is the ability to tilt the lens. For portraits, this gives me lots of control over selective focus. I like it!
Shot with the Fujifilm X-T1 and X-E2, fronted with the Nikkor SC 1:1.4 50mm lens and a Kipon T&S adapter. Window light.
Nicholas:Out of camera JPEGs in Monochrome, Yellow filter setting. Top portrait at f1.4 and second one at f4.0.
JP: RAW files with Astia setting in LR 5.6. f4.0 for both.
The tilt shift effect is beautiful.
Thanks Sonya. I am happy with the results. Now, if I can just find a way to incorporate it into my government work…
